'I envisaged a warm, loving, mutually supportive environment that was vibrant and fun and I wanted to be welcome to play a part. I'm thrilled that Lewes New School fulfils this demanding desire!'

Child Welfare

We believe that the child's emotional and spiritual development to be as significant as their physical, intellectual and creative development.

As a community of learners, we are constantly reviewing our methods and policies towards supporting the children as they grow into young adults.

This is made possible through the development of Emotional Intelligence. The teaching of such skills such as peaceful conflict resolution and problem solving help children to develop in to successful and happy individuals .

We have clear policies on bullying, discipline & punishment, and rewards & praise, in keeping with the ethos of our school.

Educational consultant and parent, Stephanie Davies-Arai, has written articles about Helping Your Child's Behaviour at School and How to Acknowledge Your Child which describe the model of respectful communication that is used at the school.
