Thursday Workshops
Thursday afternoons are given over to subject-specific workshops, which are an opportunity for parents and others from the local community to share their passions with the children and perhaps spark a new interest. Workshops may include anything from art, drama, music, photography or soft crafts. The workshops also provide a valued opportunity for staff to meet together to reflect on teaching practice with the support of an experienced facilitator.
After school clubs
We offer a range of after school activities, which vary according to the interests of the children. They may include football, netball, cricket, chess, gardening, tennis, yoga, drama or art and craft.
Music Tuition
Children also have opportunities to learn an instrument through 1:1 or small group lessons. Currently, private lessons are available for piano and violin.
Camp
Every year the older children take part in a 3 day camp in local woods. Through this experience they develop a greater awareness of the natural world, explore living together as a community and acquire basic survival skills.
Community events
Children at Lewes New School learn what it means to be part of a community. Parents and staff work hard to build a meaningful community of shared values. Throughout the year there are a range of events such as an Easter Egg hunt on the downs, a ceilidh, cake sales and the magical Winter Fair. There is also a Family Camping trip in the Summer holidays.
