Our open-ended project based approach creates opportunities for the curriculum to be shaped by our collective curiosity and imagination. A strong work ethic is practised throughout the school with children expected to achieve highly in areas such as literacy and maths.
All children from Reception onwards take part in a weekly singing assembly, and there are recorder lessons for the older children. There are also opportunities to learn an instrument through 1:1 or group tuition. Music may also form part of project work.
The performing arts are an important and popular feature of the curriculum with dance and theatrical productions often arising out of classroom based projects.
All children enjoy a broad sports curriculum, with the older children competing in various local tournaments.
Reference to the National Curriculum and the application of our own system of continual assessment rather than standardized testing, ensure that children acquire the academic and intellectual skills that will be essential for achieving continued success.
There are also a range of after school clubs available.
