Additional support

At our school, all children can feel valued and respected and can work together to learn and grow.

All children have unique capacities and capabilities and may also experience specific learning difficulties or disabilities that call for additional support or provision.

Where parents have any concerns about their child’s learning or development they are encouraged to talk to us. When additional support is needed, the class teacher and SENCo will work sensitively with parents and children to ensure a clear plan is in place.

Staff are trained to provide a personalised intervention programme for maths and literacy to those children that would benefit from a more structured approach, and our SENCo has experience of supporting children with a wide range of special educational needs. However, from time to time, the school may require additional professional advice or intervention.

Where individual or small group support beyond the classroom or specialised professional support is required, families will need to cover this additional cost.

Learning Mentors

Our team of Learning Mentors are volunteers who are trained and supervised in providing individual mentoring for children in need of a little extra care. This may be a child who is new to the school, someone who is struggling with learning or friendships, or just someone who feels they would benefit from a mentor or guide.

Any child can request a Learning Mentor, who they will work alongside on a weekly basis for an agreed length of time.
