Children at Lewes New School are given a high level of responsibility in directing their own learning.
We believe that children benefit from being in mixed age classes. Within these children form good relationships with those younger and older than themselves and find greater opportunities to consolidate and extend learning as necessary.
Through circle times and the termly Children’s Open Forum, children are encouraged to share their own ideas about the development of the school.
Pupils leave year 6 fully prepared to move onto Secondary School.
The pupils at The Lewes New School are divided into two groups.
Early Years (2 1/2 – 6 yrs) Nursery, Reception, Year 1
Later Years (6 – 11 yrs) Year 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6
